Proud Sculptures

These three photos are photos of the works i am most proud of. The firs picture is a sculpture i made my sophomore year, it won third place in Scrap Can Be Beautiful, in the Mary Thomas gallery provided by Commercial Metals. I sold my sculpture for $400, at the time of selling this piece i wasnt thinking about my future at Booker T and didn't think about putting it into my senior show. Now that my senior show is set up i really wish that i had that piece in my show. Im so proud of myself to show such talent and place in a contest at such a young age.
The second picture shows my metal headdress that I made my junior year in my AP 3D class. My concentration for that class was sculptures that show Native American heritage. This piece is the piece i am most proud of from my concentration and it will be exhibited in my senior show. I am hoping i will place this year in Scrap Can Be Beautiful, I will not be selling this piece because i would like to keep it. I would like to keep this piece because owning my own gallery is in my 10 year plan and this piece is definitely would like to exhibit my headdress in my own gallery.
The third picture is a sculpture i made my sophomore year. My best friend made the ceramic bird that went inside and this birdcage meant a lot to me. I no longer have this piece due to it being lost, this is the only picture i have of it and this shows it unfinished, I added a stand and it stood about as tall as me. I am very proud of this piece even if it is no longer in my possession.

Senior Show Invitation

This is a picture of my senior show invitation. We have decided to name our show 'Once, I was a Newt', I like this title because its unique to other senior show titles from the past. I have 8 sculptures and 2 drawings i will be exhibiting in my show, im very exciting to show my friends and family what i am capable of in my visual artist career.  I love my group, we all get along very much and im looking forward to thursday night, i have been looking forward to my senior show for the past four years, its going to be great!

Skeleton Progress

These three pictures show my progress of a drawing i did for my AP 2D class. I personally like the second picture more than the finished product, looking back on my progress there are things i would change if i were to draw this again. Instead of shading the veins green, i would shade them with my ebony and keep the whole drawing black and white, i think that would look more unifies and the shadows and highlights would look better. I worked quite hard on this drawing, and im happy with the way that it turned out but i now know that i can do even better.

Visual Artist Blog
This will be my blog this year for sharing this about my visual artist journey and career throughout my senior year at Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Im getting ready for my senior show which will exhibit my best work from the past four years at school, im very excited and relieved that it is so soon and i can show all of my peers the talent that i have. This year i hope to extend my media of sculptures into more than just metal, maybe clay and paper sculptures as well, i definitely want to leave my comfort zone and experience new techniques. This year i want to place in Scrap Can Be Beautiful and maybe even sell sculptures, i am always looking forward to Scrap. This year i will be posting pictures of new sculptures i make and post my resume to find job and scholarship opportunities.
